26th June Track 1
8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Another round of bingo for other time zones!
Who here has a fannish tattoo? Who's published a novel? Who's seen the Star Wars Holiday Special? Come get to know your fellow fans with this bingo game—or just hang out and chat.
9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
An introduction to the Concom and overview of what you can expect during the con.
10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.
Like going to a medical conference and listening to an immunology paper. Except it’s a bogus paper on an imaginary disease presented by people in lab coats who are not medical doctors. Bring your stethoscope and your sense of humour!
11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.
Forced intimacy tropes and why we love them: Aliens made them do it, huddling for warmth, arranged marriages, and fake dating: Forced intimacy tropes are all over fandom. We’ll talk about the hallmarks of forced intimacy tropes, why they appeal to us, and our favorite examples.
1 p.m. to 1:50 p.m.
How do you like your historical slash? Reflecting the dark realities of history or ignoring them or combining them? Fanfic in Sherlock Holmes, Jeeves and Wooster, Raffles and other fandoms tackle these issues in many different ways. Let’s discuss queer literature of the time, fanfic tropes, AUs, and what needs historical slash fulfills in writers and readers.
2 p.m. to 2:50 p.m.
From Pride and Prejudice to Harry/Draco, enemies-to-lovers is one of the greatest romance tropes of all time. Let's compare our favorite enemies-to-lovers ships and discuss why we find this trope so irresistible in fandom and beyond.
3:30 p.m. to 4:20 p.m.
We've all been there. A meander down the wrong road and suddenly you're working out quarry locations and how much rainfall they get a year. Let's share our weirdest details that we worked out for ourselves but never managed to fit it into the story.
4:30 p.m. to 5:20 p.m.
How are the new Star Treks (Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, and the Star Trek Shorts) in dialogue with each other and other Star Trek media? How does that both highlight and critique earlier incarnations of the universe, consciously or not?
5:30 p.m. to 6:20 p.m.
With a bonus introduction to Leverage! The rich and powerful take what they want. Leverage is a show about the people who steal it back for you. We’ll start with an introduction for new fans, talk about our favorite heists and moments, and get excited for Leverage 2.0. If you like found family, humiliating greedy corporations, wiping the floor with corrupt politicians, or designing brewpub menus, this is for you. Let’s go steal a panel!
8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
